Map of the Indus Valley Civilization. |
The ancient Indus Valley civilization
comprised at least 70 population
sites, spread out over 500,000 square
miles. The economy was based on
crops and livestock, with cotton forming the basis of a textile industry.
Archaeological excavations have
revealed sculptures of stone, castbronze, and terra-cotta that show a
high degree of artistry. The reason for
the civilization’s decline remains
unknown.
